Filling a Remote IT Risk Manager Position Requiring Healthcare and Cybersecurity Experience

The Client

The Client is headquartered in West Orange, NJ. It is New Jersey’s leading healthcare system that integrates various services to treat over three million patients annually, combining top-notch academic medicine with research and teaching, and community partners together to create healthier communities. Their academic healthcare system includes partnerships with Rutgers Cancer Institute and Rutgers Behavioral Health, focusing on groundbreaking research and training over 1,000 medical residents and interns each year. They strive to bring the best healthcare to meet the demands of residents of New Jersey—whether that be enhancing the coordination for treating complex health conditions or improving community health through local programs and education.

The Problem/Opportunity

The Client needed to fill an IT Risk Manager position. The position was multidimensional and required candidates to have experience in Healthcare, Cybersecurity, and Cloud Security simultaneously. The key difficulties that were experienced in recruiting for this position were:

  • The position required a candidate with experience in the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) privacy and security.
  • The roles mandated that the candidates have experience in multiple acute care facilities, physician practices, ambulatory locations, and corporate facilities.
  • The ideal candidate was required to be HealthCare Information Security and Privacy Practitioner (HCISPP) certified and should have experience in cloud security and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) cybersecurity framework.
  • The positions had a lower budget than the prevailing market rates for the same position.
  • The pool of candidates was very small because of the diverse skill set required.

The iQuasar Solution

iQuasar’s dedicated team of recruiters gathered all the Client’s requirements and started an extensive search for the relevant candidates. Our recruiters conducted an in-depth analysis and research for the IT Risk Manager position and used various licensed job sites, internal databases, and other social media search tools to find a qualified candidate for the role. Upon analyzing the market for these niche healthcare information security requirements, our team learned that the best potential candidates for these roles would be Healthcare IT professionals. Additionally, our team engaged in cold calling and reached out to qualified candidates at optimal hours to ensure that our outreach was effective. The team also employed various referral methods to contact the candidates. After employing various modes of outreach, we were successful in submitting a few highly qualified candidates, and one of those candidates was offered the job.

How Our Solution Created Value for the Client

iQuasar’s dedicated team helped the client fill the IT Risk Manager position, which had been vacant for more than six months and had caused a loss of productivity in fulfilling the responsibilities at the performance location. The project was stagnant because of the absence of an IT Risk Manager. Once the offered candidate was onboarded, the project picked up the pace and ultimately got completed in due course of time.
